What American Campuses Are Actually Teaching, in Their Own Words

(America Reborn, Deskooled) - Zohran Mamdani isn’t the only symptom of where a generation of campus-educated activists has landed. Look at Columbia University this year, where the student group CUAD posted “Marg bar Amrika,” Persian for “Death to America,” directly to social media. When the platform forced the post down, the group didn’t apologize. They doubled down, stating plainly that “the sentiment still stands.”

That’s not a fringe incident happening in some dark corner of the internet. One California town found Flock’s license plate cameras were wrong 71% of the time

(Daniel Sims, Techspot) - The controversy surrounding Flock cameras primarily centers on privacy and fears of a surveillance state. However, the cloud-based license-plate-reading system’s accuracy and effectiveness have also drawn scrutiny. In one particularly egregious case, an internal review uncovered more than 1,000 false positives over two years.

Police in Roseville, California, found that, out of 1,427 incidents in which the town’s AI-powered license-plate cameras flagged a vehicle as stolen or used in a felony, the cameras misread the plate in 71% of cases.

With swords, axes and shields, fighters go head-to-head in medieval combat world championship

(KARK) - With swords, axes and shields, competitors from 30 countries are going head-to-head in the grounds of a Danish fortress in a modern version of old-fashioned battle.

The International Medieval Combat Federation’s annual world championship roared into gear in northern Denmark this week. First staged in Spain in 2014, it features armor-clad competitors fighting with 14th-century medieval weapons. But it’s also a modern combat sport with safety rules and sporting conventions.

A mixture of historical and modern techniques

“It’s historically inspired,” combat federation spokesperson Kamila Studencka said. “It’s a mix of modern techniques with historical ones. We have something between full combat sports and fencing.”

And Why It Could Never Be Made Today

(Dixie Drudge) - Few movies have earned the reputation of Deliverance as one of the most intense survival films in American cinema. Released in 1972, the film follows four ordinary men forced to rely on thier own courage, endurance, and self-reliance after a week-end canoe trip turns into a nightmare. Deliverance delivers as one of the most manly films ever made because it shows real men responding under extreme pressure. Deliverance delivers catharsis without superheroes or special effects.

Deliverance began as a best-selling novel by Georgia poet James Dickey. Steven King has been quoted several times as saying the book was the scariest thing he ever read because it’s events were both plausible and possible, unlike his own work. As in the novel, the film gives character to timeless qualities such as personal responsibility, determination, physical toughness, loyalty, and an ordinary man’s willingness to overcome taboos against violence to survive. The rugged Chattooga River wilderness forbade modern plot contrivances, forcing the cast of everyman characters to confront danger using only their instincts and resourcefulness. There are no cell phones and no 911 in the 1970’s Georgia backwoods. The situation and theme continue to resonate with audiences today, especially male audiences who appreciate realistic adventure.

Deliverance would be difficult to produce in today’s mass-market woke Hollywood. Post-modern filmmakers still create gritty survival stories, mainly under independent banners, but distribution is the choke-point. You can sell super-heroes that the public is sick of. You can sell filth. You can sell wholesale violence. You can sell perversion. But, you will never sell four straight white males fighting for survival against perverts. As a result, a film with the same uncompromising, risk-taking, and uncomfortable storytelling would never receive studio backing in ‘woke’ Hollywood. (Unless the pervs were the heroes)

Deliverance was no picnic to make even by 1970’s standards. It was filmed mostly in an untamed gorge on a ‘wild’ river. The danger was real. The crew was on scene and stunts were largely performed by the actors. In later interviews, the actors told of what a traumatic experience the filming was. If they looked scared on screen it’s because they were. Ned Beatty especially suffered. Not beacause he wasn’t physically tough, he was more than up to the physical challenge. However, Burt Reynolds confided that his friend suffered later PTSD from the experience. Bill McKinney and Herb Coward, the actors who played the heavies in the film were unknown to Beatty. They stayed in character on and off set. They followed, badgered, threatened and intimidated Ned through the whole production. By the time Ned’s infamous '“Squeal like a Pig” scene came (some of which was ad libbed) Ned’s reaction wasn’t all acting. His terror became real. It was nightmare fuel.

Today, logistics, environmental impacts, and insurance risks would doom Deliverance long before the project got off the ground. And that is the real shame. Even with CGI, nothing like it is being produced. Nothing like it can clear the hurdles of managment and slalom course of lawyers to get the green light. Deliverance’s combination of psychological tension, outdoor adventure, real danger and realistc violence secure’s its place among the greatest films of the 1970’s.

It is the pinnacle of movies for guys who like movies.

Burchett Bill Aims to Stop Flock Cameras From Tracking Americans — Including Gun Owners

(Bill Crump, AmmoLand) - Representative Tim Burchett (R-TN) has introduced legislation that would ban federal agencies from purchasing, deploying, operating, accessing, or contracting for Flock Safety’s automated license plate reader cameras and similar mass-surveillance technologies, systems he has described as unconstitutional.

The Protection Against Mass Surveillance Act (H.R. 9800) was introduced on July 21, 2026, and referred to the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. The bill prohibits federal agencies from acquiring or using automated surveillance systems that identify, track, or record individuals through automated license plate recognition (explicitly including Flock Safety cameras), facial recognition technology, biometric identification (fingerprint, iris, retina, voice, gait, or other biological characteristics), or any technology that captures, analyzes, or retains a person’s image, likeness, or other personally identifiable information for the purpose of persistent or mass surveillance. LASIK: Permanent Vision Correction as a Prep

Can American red states defend themselves after secession? What about China?

(Red State Secession) - We estimate that the US red states after secession would have 51% of the US population, or 173 million. Add to that 6 million from Alberta & Saskatchewan. Of course the number would be much higher if the federal government causes a civil war, because the red states would take much more territory & population at the end of a war. Still, we shouldn’t take the whole US population – we’ve argued that governing the northeast US & eastern Canada is not worth the effort though, as we need a place to deport subversives to where they can find a livelihood.

That’s only of 2.2% of world population.

The economics of state power

Fortunately, the red states would have 11% of world GDP, more than any other country except the blue states or China. As the image at the head of this article shows, a red-state federation would have the GDP to punish any embargoes from the blue states.

Much of blue-state GDP comes from finance, which uses both red-state & blue-state capital & corporations. Some of that would move to red-state finance centers in Miami & Dallas. Film-making is moving to red states such as Georgia. Information technology is moving to Austin, Miami, etc, along with the billionaires fleeing California taxes. Elon Musk’s companies or mostly in red states. Investors believe he has a good chance at growing the economy greatly in the long term, as robots…
