Graffiti including the words “Gaza” and “ICE” appeared Monday on the Confederate-era statue along Tulane Avenue; authorities have not confirmed an investigation.
A Confederate monument in Mid-City was defaced with spray-painted messages Monday morning, including political references to ICE and Gaza.
The vandalism appeared on the “General Albert Pike, Confederate States Army” monument along Tulane Avenue. Photos show graffiti scrawled across multiple sides of the stone structure, including the word “ICE” and “DOGE” crossed out, and the word “GAZA” spray-painted on another side.
It’s unclear when the defacement occurred, but the markings were visible as of midday. WWL Louisiana has reached out to local law enforcement to confirm whether this incident is under investigation.
