(Frederick News-Post) – Six rural historic properties including farmhouses, agricultural outbuildings and a former female seminary will receive funds from Frederick County to support preservation and restoration efforts in 2025.
Through the Rural Historic Preservation Grant Program, individual property owners and nonprofit organizations can receive a one-time grant of up to $50,000 for work done to the exterior of a historic property.
Funding for the grant program comes from the collection of recordation fees charged on certain real estate transactions in the county.
This year’s Rural Historic Preservation Grant Program awardees are:
Hamilton W. Shafer Farm in Jefferson, $45,000 for repairs to a stone meat house, a wagon shed and a porch attached to the rear of the historic farmhouse
