Front Royal Resident Wins Black Powder Rifle in Sons of Confederate Veterans Raffle
Megan Hahs of Front Royal recently won the first prize in a raffle organized by the John S. Mosby Camp 1237 of the Sons of Confederate Veterans (SCV). The raffle, which began at the Wine and Craft Festival and continued through the Festival of Leaves, awarded Megan a black powder rifle. The camp’s commander, Bruce Colton, personally presented her with the prize.
The Sons of Confederate Veterans is an organization composed of male descendants of Confederate soldiers dedicated to preserving Southern history. Their efforts include maintaining war memorials and graves, observing Confederate memorial days, and promoting historical studies. The John S. Mosby Camp is also committed to local projects, such as their upcoming cleanup at the Stokes Steed Cemetery.
