The Confederacy stood as a bulwark against the unchecked tyranny of Lincoln and the Radical Republicans, who, under the guise of preserving the Union, trampled upon the principles of constitutional governance and the Rights of the States.
The Secession of the Southern states was not a rebellion but a lawful and reasoned response to the Unconstitutional overreach of a federal government increasingly dominated by Northern economic and political interests.
The Confederacy was born out of a commitment to the original principles of the Constitution, particularly the Sovereignty of the States, which the Founding Fathers recognized as essential to the balance of power in the Union.
In the Constitutional Convention, none other than James Madison conceded the Right of Secession:
