In fact the majority of the white population were share croppers who paid the landlord who ripped them off for more money to purchase more people to work their personal fields. Their descendants today are the ones telling the descendents of people who loved in shacks not much better than the slave quarters on the plantationg, and farmed their own food with their own work on land they didn't own and paid out the wazoo to live on along with a portion of their crop that they need to pay reparations to the descendants of their landlord ancestors slaves.
