(Don Smith, Confederate Honor) - According to a commission created by the U.S. Congress:
Any monument to Confederate leaders and the Confederacy should be viewed as honoring the “Lost Cause” philosophy---not brave servicemen or their communities.
No Confederates “warrant commemoration” from the Department of War or the U.S. military. Not Robert E. Lee, or Stonewall Jackson, or Jeb Stuart, or the Angel of Marye’s Heights at Fredericksburg, or the average Confederate soldier---none of them!
Congress REFUSES to explain why it supports such sweeping, divisive & insulting conclusions. Congress must ALWAYS explain its actions to the citizens it represents
The United States Congress has chosen to treat Confederate heritage carelessly, and with contempt. The Arizona Division of the Sons of Confederate Veterans (SCV) feels that that poses a risk for ALL aspects of American heritage. If the American people take the same standards and “due process” that Congress used with Confederate heritage, and apply them to other groups in American society and other times in American history, many of our nation’s heroes and much of our heritage will end up being canceled.
