UDC Chapter honors veterans (TN)

Members of the Kirby-Smith Chapter 327 of the United Daughters of the Confederacy (UDC) recently honored the men and women who served in our nation’s military. On Nov. 8, Patricia Street helped honor veterans at a special luncheon which was held at the Coalmont Community Center. On behalf of the Kirby-Smith Chapter, Street presented honor packets to the veterans which contained cards of thanks and embroidered stars which were taken from retired U.S. flags.
On Nov. 9, Ginger Delius, Becky Odell and Syble Throneberry attended the Veterans Day parade in Manchester. Making their way through the crowd, the ladies presented veterans with honor packets and small U.S. flags. Following the parade and during the honor ceremony, Allen Odell, the husband of Becky Odell, was one of eight local veterans who were presented with “quilts of valor.” The patriotic quilts were made and presented by the Manchester Ladies Quilting Guild.
