It’s hard to get more Southern in music than The Bonnie Blue Flag as written and popularized by Harry McCarthy who was known as the ‘Arkansas Comedian’ in the ante bellum period. He unveiled the song at a performance in 1861 Mississippi and it quickly became all the rage across Dixie:
