DUTY TO THE CONSTITUTION & HONOR IN ITS DEFENSE
The ideals of the Confederacy, as envisioned by its defenders, were deeply rooted in what they correctly perceived as the Foundational Principles of the original American Republic. These Principles, cherished by the Confederacy, were seen as a sacred inheritance that needed to be preserved against what they considered the overreach of centralized federal power.
At the core of the Confederate cause was the belief in the Sovereignty of individual States. The Founding Fathers, when declaring independence from Great Britain, had established the United States as a collection of Free and Independent entities. Each State retained the ultimate authority and jurisdiction over its internal matters. The Confederacy aimed to uphold this decentralized vision, arguing that the States were the creators of the federal government, not its subjects.
The Confederacy held that the Constitution was a Compact among Sovereign States, designed to protect their collective interests while respecting their autonomy. This belief was aligned with the original intent as seen by many Southern leaders, who emphasized a strict interpretation of the Constitution. They argued that the federal government should have limited powers, and any exercise beyond those explicitly granted was seen as an encroachment on State Sovereignty.

Great job that’s what I taught my sons about the real history of the South and the Civil War was cuz they didn’t want to go the same direction as the north and we would be so much better off if we had won then we wouldn’t be dealing with this bullshit cuz Southerns are still more patriotic and constitution purists which means that doctrine is perfectly written and if not that’s why we ratify amendments !
