I don't think being a left wing activist, or being greedy, are mutually exclusive. I think a lot of groups like the SPLC are sincerely both. Which is a really terrible mix. People who are political zealots and also very greedy grifters. I don't really understand who is facing punishment in this case though? I didn't see anyone named in the indictment. So I'm not sure if anyone would face jail time or if this is an asset forfeiture type case.
If they accomplish nothing more than jerking that 501C3 status away it’ll be a gain, but asset forfeiture of more than a $¼ billion they have sheltered in the Caimans for 30+ years could go a long way toward justice for a lot of injured innocents who lost jobs and reputations, not to mention lives lost to their incitements over the years.
However, there are people in high places both in the swamp and the courts that will protect the Minions of Montgomery to their dying breath
Guess we'll see how it plays out. Like I said, I really can't glean from the indictment, who specifically has to actually answer for the charges. And what the potential consequences are.
To your 'Minions of Montgomery' point, it is an interesting phenomena how there is some powerful emotional or psychological need to for some Americans to keep waging a civil rights movement that's frozen in time. I noticed it reflected in movies through the 80s and well into the 20th century. Where self-righteous liberals envision the South like it's still 1920s Rosewood, with all the dumb stereotypes. And they imagine themselves as a kind of morally superior Atticus Finch. Sweating in an all white Kentucky Colonel linen suit, still nobly fighting in a segregated, non-air conditioned courtroom. I wonder if as the Boomer generation passes away if the SPLC won't just wither away from attrition anyways. Because this outdated, patronizing Atticus Finch fantasy doesn't seem to resonate with younger people?
Non-profits are like government programs. (And there is plenty of evidence $plc might have become a gov’t op) They never die until you suffocate them by cutting their funding. Which is exactly what the leftist carpet-baggers in Virginia are trying to do
Now adl naacp aclu and more need to be shut down
