The RedState Secession Movement Does Not Have It's Own Flag
(Dixie Drudge) - This one’s probably gonna winnow out a few subscribers. The kind gentlemen over at Red-State Secession made an excellent observation the other day and offered a solution. It stirred up a good conversation about flags and their value to movements:
The red-state secession movement doesn't have a flag but people will immediately understand your meaning if you fly your state flag above the US flag
Turn the US flag upside down if you want to be really clear. Bonus points for using a small US flag.
Honestly, this never occurred to me. It makes sense. Especially in Southern states, before the War of Norther Aggression, your typical citizen rarely had any dealings with the US Government. Other than military service or the US mail. The Feds just were not to be seen. In rural areas, North and South, the post office was in a general store that never saw a flag pole. The state was a man’s predominate concern. They did the taxing, regulating, law enforcing, etc. States were even responsible for conducting Federal elections and each state did so by its own regulations.
My how times have changed. You can’t break wind without running afoul of some federal statute or rule.
Since WWII, the US flag is everywhere. It is obligated to be flown at schools, at state office buildings, at private workplaces, and my pet peeve, flanking the pulpit at your local church. (That one started during reconstruction down here to remind the pastor to be careful what he preached.) Most people consider this patriotism, but they forget that symbols matter. Symbols represent things. Symbols show what YOU support. Do you support what your government (and its Judiciary) has been forcing you to finance? Do you approve of what around 50% of your labor has promoted? Personally I don’t care a rat’s ass to fight endless proxy wars or help gender transition children in foreign countries.
I fly several flags at different times of the year. I could elaborate, but the banner of yankee occupation is not one of them. If it was, I would do as these gentlemen suggest and make a statement by flying the Arkansas flag above it.
From Occupied Arkansas,
Deo Vindice. Resurgam!
Yeah, I don't own a US flag so I haven't actually tried this yet. Thanks for linking us!
Today, more connected than ever we still seem more disconnected and isolated. It makes your thoughts about the symbols of flags, and what they represent, so much more. A way to find your tribe, your community, your people.
You’re so right.
