One other thing Allman related:

How many are aware that the song "Layla" written by Eric Clapton was performed by Duane Allman, slide guitar virtuoso of the Allman Brothers? You'll never hear it from eric "scumbag" clapton. Duane likely did the guitar arrangements as well.

Eric Clapton's biggest talent was finding the best to leach off of. Duane was definitely the best.

Yeah, he was listed on the album credits, barely.

My issue is most people assume Eric is playing Duane's line, the lead (bottleneck slide) guitar that sets the song "Layla" apart.

In reality, Duane absolutely carries the lead while Eric adds some garage-level rhythm chops. If you listen closely you can barely make them out.

This is on a cut widely acclaimed to be Eric's "signature" song.

I never heard of him correcting anybody for attributing Duane's mastery to his limited skills. It's still widely acclaimed as Eric Clapton's song.

I disagree.

I'm a huge 'Smoke fan. The cut "Waiting On the Thunder" from "Like an Arrow" is very current right now, and has been for a couple years at least.

Wifey and I generally plan our motorbike trips around concerts, Blackberry Smoke and Joe Bonamassa are usual focal points.

I was at the Atlanta Music Festival in 1970 and saw the (real) Allman Brothers first national concert, honestly, Blackberry Smoke is the first "southern music" band since them that I truly liked. They be playa's. With great material.
